Early (Pre-Idol) Video of Haley Johnsen Singing

It is standard practice for American Idol to force contestants that make the Top 24 to remove any YouTube videos they have uploaded (and hide their MySpace, Facebook and personal websites). The idea is (probably) to try to maintain a level of surprise for us the audience, and to level out the playing field for the contestants who have less of an impressive online presence. This sounds like a good idea, but is hard to accept if you’re impatient or curious (like we are!) and want to get an early buzz started.

Oh well, true to form, today all of the videos which Haley had uploaded were made private (right when we were about to copy them… boo). There were several videos from a solo acoustic show at Cloud 9 in Corvallis, Oregon, and one recorded at her home, and Haley sounded fantastic singing songs by Brandi Carlile and Janelle Monae (girl’s got taste!). Alas, we are left, at the moment, with just a handful of videos that don’t really show off what she can do. Hopefully, friends and acquaintances (who can escape the wrath of Idol) will start uploading more soon, and we’ll update this page as new videos become available.

Do you have old video of Haley singing? If so, what are you waiting for? Upload it to YouTube now! (And then shoot us the link please!)
